Browned Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies





Browned Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe
Prep Time: 20 min. | Cook Time: 12 min. | Yield: 2 dozen cookies.


INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 sticks unsalted butter, softened 
  • 1 cup brown sugar 
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 
  • 1 egg + 1 egg yolk 
  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt 
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup chocolate chips 


DIRECTIONS:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees 
  2. Brown the butter by heating 1 stick of butter in a pan over medium heat until melted (about 2 minutes) Swirl the pan constantly until the butter is dark golden brown with brown flecks on the bottom of the pan and you can smell a nutty aroma. Pour into bowl and cool completely. 
  3. In a stand mixer, mix the other stick of butter, brown sugar and granulated sugar sugar until well combined. 
  4. Add the vanilla.
  5. Slowly add the cooled brown butter and mix on medium speed. 
  6. Add in egg and egg yolk. 
  7. In a large bowl, whisk the flour, salt and baking soda. Add to the butter mixture and mix until just incorporated. 
  8. Add the chocolate chips and mix until just incorporated. 
  9. Scoop out the cookies onto baking sheets and chill in refrigerator for 5 minutes 
  10. Bake for 10-12 minutes and rotate the trays halfway through.
